With so many new home builders and communities across Arizona, choosing the right builder can be just as important as choosing the right home. I’m Maricopa Mike, and I’ve put together my Top 10 Arizona new home builders based on the factors I believe matter most to buyers—including value, floor plans, included features, incentives, community amenities, design options, and overall selection.

  1. Meritage Homes

    Best for Energy Efficiency & Buyer Value

    Meritage Homes is one of my top choices for Arizona buyers looking for a combination of affordability, modern design, and energy efficiency. Meritage builds throughout the Phoenix area and offers both quick move-in and to-be-built opportunities. Their homes emphasize energy-efficient construction and open-concept floor plans, with communities such as Rancho Mirage in Maricopa offering homes well below $500K.

  2. Risewell Homes

    Best for Floor Plans, Garages & Growing Arizona Communities

    Risewell Homes has become one of my favorite builders for buyers looking for modern floor plans, competitive pricing, and plenty of options. They have a particularly strong presence in growing communities such as Maricopa, San Tan Valley, Buckeye, Surprise, Mesa, and Apache Junction. Some communities offer options such as guest suites, gourmet kitchens and garages as large as five cars.

  3. Lennar

    Best for Included Features

    Lennar is one of the largest homebuilders in the country and has an extensive presence in Arizona, including both the Phoenix and Tucson markets. Lennar is particularly attractive to buyers who prefer a streamlined buying experience and homes that come with many popular features already included rather than having to add numerous upgrades.

  4. Richmond American Homes

    Best for Personalization & Design Options

    Richmond American has been building homes for more than 45 years and offers buyers a variety of floor plans and professionally coordinated finishes. It's a strong option for buyers who want more opportunities to personalize their new home while still having access to quick move-in inventory.

  5. Century Communities

    Best for Affordable New Construction

    Century Communities is a great builder to consider for buyers focused on affordability and location. Between Century Communities and Century Complete, the company has an extensive Arizona footprint stretching from Phoenix and Pinal County to Tucson, Mohave County and other growing markets. Buyers can find communities in places such as Buckeye, Maricopa, Casa Grande, Coolidge, San Tan Valley, Surprise and Vail.

  6. Mattamy Homes

    Best for Community Design & Amenities

    Mattamy Homes offers thoughtfully designed homes and master-planned communities throughout the Phoenix metro. Arizona communities include locations such as Buckeye, Surprise, San Tan Valley and Waddell, with many options currently starting below $500K. Mattamy is a great choice for buyers who value neighborhood amenities, attractive floor plans and community design.

  7. Taylor Morrison

    Best for Variety & Master-Planned Communities

    Taylor Morrison offers one of the broadest selections on this list, ranging from attainable new homes to luxury communities and 55+ living. In the Phoenix area, buyers can find sub-$500K options in communities throughout Surprise, Avondale, San Tan Valley, Goodyear and other Valley locations.

  8. D.R. Horton

    Best for Selection & Affordability

    D.R. Horton is one of the largest homebuilders in America and is a major option for Arizona buyers searching for new construction at approachable price points. With a large selection of communities and floor plans, D.R. Horton is especially worth considering for first-time buyers and buyers prioritizing value.

  9. Pulte Homes

    Best for Functional Floor Plans & Established Reputation

    With more than 70 years of homebuilding experience, Pulte offers new construction in both the Phoenix and Tucson areas. Pulte focuses heavily on functional living, including open layouts, indoor-outdoor spaces, storage solutions and opportunities to personalize finishes.

  10. Ashton Woods

    Best for Interior Design & Style

    Ashton Woods stands out for its emphasis on design. The builder focuses on thoughtfully designed spaces, modern interiors and coordinated finishes. In Arizona, Ashton Woods builds throughout the Phoenix market, with communities offering both attainable and higher-end options; for example, Solara in Laveen currently has homes starting around $410K.
